Course Goal

Course Goals

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

1. Acquire and use working vocabulary that can be used in multiple fields of study and occupation.

2. Gain real world knowledge that can be apply to their specific topic of study.

3. Become proficient in the tools, techniques, and practices of the study of aesthetics.

4. Develop skills that are necessary to investigate and perceive the world around them.

5. Work in a self disciplined manner in completing art projects within a specific time.

6. Develop individual expression and aesthetic.

7. Compile an advanced placement portfolio. Prepare to take the AP class the following year.

8. Understand how to critique and evaluate art.

Schedule subject to change according to classroom needs.

How to Design a Painting Portfolio: will understand the makeup and procedures of a painting portfolio.

Review: will learn on how to draw in proportion, perspective and structure.

First Still life Whole Class

Color Charts, plus Direct and Indirect Painting: will understand how to design and produce color charts plus understand the difference of Direct and Indirect Painting.

Monochromatic Painting: will learn how to paint realism only using the values of a single Hue.

Intensity painting: will how to produce different intensity of color through a non-objective painting.

Drapery/Fabric painting: will understand how to use value and how to paint soft and hard edges. Step by step Guide.

Glass Still life painting: will learn the set up in how to paint realism the illusion of glass.

Metal still life painting: will learn the set up in how to paint realism in metal objects.

Combined Still life painting*: will learn the set up in how to paint a realistic still life on Canvas.

Blue Ridge mountains: will learn how to set up in how to paint the sky

Water painting: will learn how to set up in how to paint water.

Surrealistic Painting: will learn how to set up in how to paint a Surrealistic landscape.

Landscape painting*: will learn how to set up and paint a realistic landscape on Canvas.

Seascape painting*: will learn how to set up and paint a realistic seascape on Canvas.

Mixed Media: will learn to use a variety of media in a single piece.

Figure Painting: will learn how to paint the figure.

Portrait Painting*: the student will learn how to set up and paint a portrait on Canvas. Here is a Short Video on the process.

Art in Response to Social Issues*: will take a Social Issue that is affecting them today.

How to Paint in Sonia Delaunay Style: Subject matter not dependent on realistic depictions of the world.

A limited Palette of Anders Zorn.  Anders Zorn use a very Limited Palette but had great range of color, value and intensity.
